DIGITAL ART
Below is a gallery of selected art pieces I've created both digitally . The program and year, if known, are provided as well as any additional relevant information regarding each work.

An assignment to build a self portrait entirely out of text. I chose to use my live journal/diary at the time. My image is made entirely of text taken from my entries, made into a mask superimposed on an image of myself. In the background are comments made by my friends and each friend was given a different colour based on how I associated them with each person. Year: 2006 Program: Photoshop

A still taken from a video installation. Installed as a final project in 2006, the video was projected on a white bed sheet that was half hung on the wall and half crumpled on the ground extending towards the projector. There is no audio and it was presented in a small, bare room with the lights off. The video speaks the silencing of victims of abuse as the only sound heard is that of those watching it. Even though she is seen, she is beyond help and unheard. Year: 2006 Program: Final Cut Pro

Using vector imaging and layers, I created a self portrait with surreal colouring. Year: 2006 Program: Photoshop

This is a screen capture. A link to the full animation is provided below. The assignment was to build a self portrait entirely out of text. Along the top is my name in Korean. Next to be written is my name in katakana, my nick name in hiragana, and Japanese name in kanji. Year: 2006 Program: Photoshop

I chose to combine the socially acceptable aesthetics used in publication-based images with the unconventional aesthetics of body modifications by adding metal implants to my body. The full image is not available due to the sensitive nature of the subject matter but this sample demonstrates the concept of the piece. Year: 2006 Program: Photoshop

We were asked to create a new twist on an old classic. I chose 'Venus of Urbino' by Titian as my source. Each part of this image is something I created by scanning various textures and source photographs into a collage. My modification went further by changing the genders of original painting's subject and the species of the animal companion. Year: 2006 Program: Photoshop

The assignment for this project asked that we make an 'experiential' website. My storyline took a guest through a 32-minute spy-chase around the world. Users could access profiles of all the operatives in the Shadow Cats database as well as view their current locations on the map. The lower portion played out a storyline through encoded and Morse code messages telling of a kidnap and rescue operation. Eventually, the site is 'hacked' causing chaos. This self portrait contains many unique aspects. At the top are drawings of my favourite character at the time along with an interpretation of the night sky, my favourite time of day. Along the sides are the Japanese lyrics to two of songs that gave me strength as well as a pastel rendition of my kimono as worn by me in a source photograph as well as a pencil drawing of my face. The sides are red with the middle white to represent my proud Canadian heritage. Year: 2003 Media: Mixed media
